Requirements to become a Substitute

  • Daily Pay Rates for 2024-2025
    Professional/Teaching Position
    $120 - High school diploma or equivalent required
    $130 - Active TX teacher certification (any subject/area)

    Support Staff / Assistant / Clerical Position
    $110 - High school diploma or equivalent required

    Substitute Nurses
    $228 - Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)

    Substitutes – Professionals
    $300 - Speech Language Pathologist
    $300 - Diagnostician/OT/PT/LSSP
    $300 – Counselors

  • Criminal History Guidelines

    Every person who wishes to serve as a District employee, volunteer, camp counselor, private teacher or contractor, or any other person who will have contact with District students shall have a criminal history search performed. More information

    The 80th Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 9 (SB 9), which mandated the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to acquire criminal history through fingerprint submission on: (1) all certified educators who are currently employed, (2) all substitutes and (3) non-certified employees hired after January 1, 2008. This process requires the individual to hold a state-issued driver's license or state-issued ID card.
