Plano ISD Students Earn Top Three Spots at Texas Junior Science & Humanities Symposium

January 28, 2025

Plano ISD students competed in the annual Texas Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (TJSHS) competition held January 24, 2025 in College Station, Texas. High school students (grades 9-12) from across the state conducted research during the school year and presented results at TJSHS through both spoken and written word. Nominees submit an abstract of their original research, and a panel of preliminary judges selects the top 8 abstracts in 8 categories to present their research at the Symposium.

22 Plano ISD students from four campuses were accepted to present at the 2025 TJSHS competition. After the first round of competition, the first place finisher in each of the eight categories moves on to the finalist round. Plano ISD had five students place first in their categories.

Out of the eight finalists who competed in the second round of competition, the top five winners qualified to attend the 63rd Junior Science and Humanities symposium on April 22-26, 2025, in Chantilly, Virginia. 1st and 2nd place finalists are invited to present their original research investigation in the oral session competition; 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finalists are invited to present their original research investigation in the poster session competition.

Plano ISD students took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
