Three Outstanding Staff Members Honored as April Plano ISD Proud Award Winners
At the April 2025 Board of Trustees meeting, three exceptional Plano ISD staff members were honored with the Plano ISD Proud Award, a monthly recognition that celebrates employees who exemplify excellence, dedication and a deep commitment to students and the community.

Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams introduced this month’s honorees and presented each with a specially designed lapel pin and certificate, joined by Board Vice President Dr. Lauren Tyra. Guests and family members in attendance stood to be recognized and applauded the recipients’ outstanding achievements.
Dawn Hall — Holifield Science Learning Center Office Manager
Nominated by her supervisor, Keith Griffin, Dawn Hall was recognized as the “cornerstone” of operations at the Holifield Science Learning Center. She plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the center while managing the logistics and travel for visiting elementary students engaged in hands-on science learning. Dawn also supports the district’s educational animal care on weekends and contributes significantly to the success of the district’s 5th Grade Camp program.
Her behind-the-scenes work—especially coordinating finances and scholarships across campuses—makes a challenging program more efficient and collaborative. Known for her positive attitude and unwavering dedication, Dawn Hall truly embodies the spirit of the Plano ISD Proud Award.
Leesa Gibson — Hendrick Middle School Registrar
Principal Lisa Long nominated Leesa Gibson for her invaluable service and support at Hendrick Middle School. Leesa is known for her patience, kindness, and ability to provide clarity during the registration process, easing the transition for families and students. Her welcoming attitude creates an inviting and supportive environment for all.
Leesa’s contributions extend beyond front office duties. She has played a key role in assisting teachers with the district’s new gradebook system, ensuring they feel confident and capable using the platform—ultimately enhancing student outcomes. Her professionalism and heart for service make her a cornerstone of the Hendrick community.
Melanie Willett — Mathews Elementary 5th Grade Teacher / Team Leader
With 30 years in public education, Melanie Willett was nominated by Principal Wendy Miller for her unwavering passion for teaching and mentoring young minds. Every school year, Melanie brings the enthusiasm of a first-year teacher, striving to provide a rich academic experience while also nurturing students’ character and emotional well-being.
She fosters integrity, empathy, and responsibility through daily classroom activities and builds lasting connections—many former students return to share their lives and milestones with her. A leader on campus, Melanie contributes to school improvement initiatives and remains an active supporter of students beyond the classroom. Her deep impact on students and colleagues alike is a shining example of Plano ISD Proud.
