January 21, 2025
In celebration of Board Appreciation Month, Plano ISD honored its esteemed Board of Trustees with an evening filled with gratitude, student performances, and special recognitions. The event was a true showcase of the district’s appreciation for the leadership and dedication of these playmakers who continue to guide #TeamPlanoISD.
The evening began with an energetic display of school spirit as varsity cheerleaders and mascots from all three senior high schools led the Pledges of Allegiance. This spirited introduction set the stage for a night filled with meaningful acknowledgments and heartfelt tributes.

Honorees included Monica Barton, campus secretary at Armstrong Middle School, who fosters a warm and welcoming campus environment; Roxy Maya Huitron, community translator for Multilingual Services, whose work strengthens communication with Spanish-speaking families; and Sarah Tanco, MTSS coordinator at Aldridge Elementary, who continues to impact student success through mentorship and instructional leadership.

Adding a creative touch to the festivities, Plano ISD PASAR students presented custom pennants and artwork, while students from the district’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs contributed thoughtful gifts. Plano East culinary students crafted delicious food baskets, Plano Senior High fashion design students embroidered beautiful tote bags, and Plano East floral design students arranged stunning floral displays—all as tokens of appreciation for the trustees’ service.
The Fine Arts Department also played a key role in the celebration. Plano West art student Adyson Sciple presented a stunning art piece, while the drum majors from all three senior high schools delivered a spirited performance before gifting each trustee a personalized set of drumsticks.
The night concluded with a high-energy cheer led by representing all three senior high school’s cheerleaders and mascots, igniting school spirit throughout the room. Senior high football players then presented each trustee with a commemorative Team Plano ISD game football, a fitting tribute to their leadership in the district’s winning team.
President Nancy Humphrey closed the evening with an endearing message, expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the Board of Trustees:
"It is our honor and pleasure to work on behalf of all students, families, and staff in Plano ISD, and we are so very proud to be a part of Team Plano ISD."
Plano ISD extends its most sincere thanks to all students, staff, and community members who helped make this year’s Board Appreciation Month a truly special celebration.
