Plano West Students Earn Prestigious Texas Theatre Scholar Distinction

Plano ISD proudly congratulates five talented theatre students from Plano West Senior High School for earning the Texas Theatre Scholar Distinction, a prestigious honor awarded by Texas Thespians. Under the direction of Alex Rodriguez and Marily Gonzalez, these students have demonstrated outstanding commitment to both their academic studies and theatrical pursuits.

The Texas Theatre Scholar Distinction celebrates students who exemplify excellence on stage and in the classroom. To earn this recognition, recipients must:

  • Be currently enrolled in their school

  • Maintain good standing within their theatre department

  • Actively participate in theatrical programming throughout the school year

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Fulfill any additional local requirements set by their theatre department

  • Exhibit behavior and character that reflect positively on their school and community

These honorees have proven to be true scholar-artists, balancing rigorous academic demands with the passion and discipline required in the performing arts.
